Downtown Bethesda is the most built-up place we work outside Rockville itself. Around Bethesda Row and the Woodmont Triangle, restaurants and shops sit at street level with offices and apartments stacked above them, and the doors reflect that: aluminium-framed glass shopfronts with commercial deadlatches, back doors onto service alleys, and residential towers where the lockout is always on the unit door, not the lobby.

Step off Wisconsin Avenue and Bethesda gets old quickly, in the good sense. Edgemoor and Battery Park are 1920s-to-1940s houses, many still carrying mortise locks and hardware from when they were built — worth repairing properly rather than swapping for something newer and worse.
