Why us

A local shop, not a dispatch line

Two things separate us from the brokers: who answers, and how the price is set.

You reach the locksmith, every time

Search "locksmith near me" and most of what comes back is a call centre that sells your job on to whoever is closest. You do not know who is arriving or what they will charge.

  • The same Rockville business every time, not a rotating cast of subcontractors
  • The person who answers the phone is the person who turns up
  • Working these streets since 2012

The price comes before the work

It depends on the lock, the job and the time of day, so we quote once we know what we are dealing with. What we will not do is start before you have agreed the number.

  • Non-destructive entry attempted first, always
  • Drilling only as a last resort, and only after we tell you
  • The van carries the parts, so most jobs finish first time

How it works

Three steps, starting with a phone call

1

Tell us what's locked

What it is, where you are and what kind of lock. That is usually enough to know which tools to load.

2

We come to you

A locksmith travels to your address with the parts the job needs, so most work finishes in a single visit.

3

Open, repair or replace

Opened without damage where possible, repaired where that is the right call, replaced when it is beyond saving.

Step one is the phone call — describe what is locked and we will take it from there.

Night callout
Found a cheap locksmith ad online first, and the guy who showed up in an unmarked van suddenly wanted about ten times the phone quote before he'd touch my door. Sent him away and called A1 because they were the only ones who gave me a firm number on the phone. The locksmith quoted me straight on the phone, showed up in a marked vehicle, and charged exactly what he said. Lesson learned.

Locked myself out at 11:30 after a closing shift, no spare, phone at 4 percent. The guy who came out had the door open in maybe ten minutes and didn't make me feel dumb about it.

Keys locked in my car at the Shady Grove Metro garage, level 4, freezing. Called at 6:15, guy was there before 7. Did his thing, got me in, done.
G

Lost my only car key somewhere between the gym and the grocery store. Dealer said tow it to them. A1 came to my driveway and cut and programmed a new one right there. Took a while, but it started.

Questions

Before you call

What people ask most when they are standing outside their own front door.

Can you open the door without damaging it?

In most cases yes. Non-destructive entry is always the first approach on a standard residential or commercial lock. Drilling is a last resort, and if a lock has to be drilled we will tell you before we start and what replacing it will involve.

Do you work at night and at weekends?

Emergency work runs 24/7. Lockouts do not happen at convenient times, so the phone is answered outside office hours.

Can you make a car key if I've lost every copy?

Usually. With no key to copy from, the new key is cut to the vehicle rather than to an existing key, then programmed to the car. Have the make, model and year ready when you call.

What will it cost?

It depends on the lock, the job and the time of day, so we quote once we know what we are dealing with. What we will not do is start work before the price is agreed with you.

Do you handle smart locks and keypads?

Yes, alongside traditional mechanical locks — installation, replacement, and getting back in when a smart lock stops cooperating.

Which areas do you cover?

Rockville and the surrounding Montgomery County towns, including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Potomac, Wheaton, Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, Olney, Kensington and Gaithersburg.
